We’re looking for an Executive Creative Director who can lead both brand strategy and creative direction.
The role starts with understanding what the client is actually trying to achieve. That means asking the right questions, working through the context with stakeholders, and identifying the real goal behind the brief. From there, you’ll define the narrative and creative direction for the project. You’ll work with the team to turn that direction into a strong brand system across identity, web, motion, and product. We’re looking for someone who is equally comfortable discussing business, strategy, and creative work. You should be able to make clear decisions, explain the reasoning behind them, and keep the work focused as the project develops.
About the Role
You’ll lead the strategic and creative direction of brand engagements from the first client conversations through final delivery.
Early in the project, you’ll work with the client and our team to understand the business, audience, market, and goals. You’ll help define the problem we need to solve and the position the brand should take. You’ll then set the narrative and creative direction and work with the design team to explore several ways to bring it to life. The role is not about managing a department. There is no responsibility for hiring or day-to-day people management. Your focus will be the work itself: strategy, creative direction, client communication, and the quality of the final result. You’ll work closely with Ramotion’s designers, strategists, and project team. When a projectrequires additional expertise, you may also help us identify the right people to bring in.
What You'll Do
- Lead discovery sessions and conversations with clients and stakeholders.
- Identify the business goal behind the brief and define the strategic direction for the project.
- Develop the brand narrative and creative direction.
- Guide the team through two or three distinct creative routes and decide which ones are strong enough to take forward.
- Make sure the direction works across identity, web, motion, and digital products.
- Decide what work should be shown to the client and how it should be presented.
- Lead client presentations and explain the thinking behind the work in a clear and convincing way.
- Work through feedback with the client and the team. Know what should change and when it is important to push back.
- Keep the work focused throughout the project and make sure the final execution still solves the problem we set out to solve.
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of experience in branding, identity, brand strategy, or creative direction.
- Significant experience working in branding agencies, design studios, or similar environments.
- A portfolio with full rebranding projects, not only individual identity pieces or campaign work.
- Evidence that you have led both the strategic thinking and the creative direction behind the work.
- Strong knowledge of positioning, brand strategy, category thinking, and go to-market considerations.
- A strong understanding of visual identity, typography, illustration, web design, and digital products.
- Good creative judgment and the ability to explain why one direction is stronger than another.
- Experience working directly with senior client stakeholders.
- Confidence leading workshops and presentations in English.
- The ability to work with small teams and adapt to different project constraints.
- An active interest in new technology and AI tools, without losing sight of craft and original thinking.
Experience as a founder or partner of a small branding or design studio is a strong plus, especially if you personally led both strategy and creative work.
What Usually Works Well in This Role
You’re comfortable getting into the details of a business and asking questions before jumping into design. You can move between a conversation about positioning and a detailed discussion about typography, interface design, or motion without treating those as separate worlds. You have a point of view, but you don’t rely on taste alone. You can explain your decisions and make the case for the work. You’re also comfortable working directly with clients. That includes difficult conversations, conflicting opinions, and situations where the strongest creative answer may not be the easiest one to sell. And you stay involved. You don’t disappear after the strategy or the first presentation. You care about how the work turns out.
How We Work
Ramotion is fully remote, and our team works across time zones. This is a contract, project-based role. Compensation is agreed per project and includes the opportunity for revenue-share upside. We’re looking for someone we can work with repeatedly, not just for a single engagement. The exact structure can be shaped together if the fit is right.
