About the tool
Token Importer is a Figma plugin for extending a design system with new tokens without risking the ones it already has. Pick a token file, press one button, and the plugin creates the missing colors, spacing and radii as Figma Variables.
Nothing that already exists in the file is touched or overwritten. After each import, a report shows exactly what was added and what was skipped, so you know the state of the system before you hand it over.

How it works
- Open the plugin. Launch Token Importer from Plugins in Figma.
- Choose a file. Select the token file to import.
- Import. Press the button. The plugin creates every variable the file defines and the document is missing.
- Read the report. Check what was added and what was skipped below the button.
- Fix and repeat. Correct skipped values in the source file and import again. Existing variables stay untouched.
